The first OV-10A Bronco prototype took flight in July 1965, following successful test flights, it entered mass production. The U.S. Air Force ordered 109 aircraft, while the U.S. Marine Corps acquired 76. Post-Vietnam War, these aircraft remained in service and were gradually modernized. The Marine Corps' OV-10A received the AN/APR-39 digital threat warning system, which monitors the surroundings for radar signals and alerts the crew to hazardous radiation sources. Additionally, these aircraft were equipped with the AN/ALQ-144 'Disco Light' infrared countermeasure and the AN/ALE-39 countermeasure dispenser system. Thus equipped, they participated in the 'Desert Storm' operation in 1991, marking the last combat use of OV-10 Bronco aircraft in U.S. Marine Corps aviation, and they were finally retired from combat service in 1994.
